Terms of Service
The short version: your trips are yours, use the service sensibly, and don't rely on a planning tool to keep you safe on the road. The full terms are below.
Last updated 1 October 2026
Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Bytes Of, a sole proprietorship registered in Denmark under CVR number 46709551, covering your use of BitesOf at bitesoftravel.com and its apps. “We”, “us” and “our” mean Bytes Of. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not, please do not use BitesOf. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and forms part of this agreement.
Your account
You need an account to plan trips. Sign-in is handled by Auth0. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for everything done through it. Give us accurate details, and tell us if you think someone else has got in. You must be 16 or over.
Your content
Trips, routes, notes, photos, and everything else you put into BitesOf remain yours. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to store, reproduce, and display that content solely to run the service - including showing a trip to the people you share it with or, if you make it public, to anyone with the link.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, including photos and any GPX or activity data imported from another service. You can export or delete your content at any time.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, harassing, or that you have no right to share.
- Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection to a person or organisation.
- Scrape, bulk-download, or resell content from the service, including other people's public trips.
- Probe, overload, or interfere with the service, or attempt to reach data that isn't yours.
- Use the routing, map, or weather features in a way that breaches the terms of the underlying providers.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, and will tell you why where we reasonably can.
Routes, maps, and your safety
BitesOf is a planning tool, not a navigation or safety system. Routes are generated from third-party data (OpenStreetMap, Mapbox, BRouter, GraphHopper, OpenRouteService) and can be out of date, incomplete, or wrong. A road may be closed, private, unsuitable, or dangerous regardless of what the map shows. Weather forecasts are estimates. Distance, elevation, and time figures are approximations.
You are responsible for assessing whether a route is safe and legal for you, your equipment, and the conditions on the day, and for complying with local traffic and access law. Cycling, hiking, and travel carry inherent risk that you accept as your own.
Third-party services
Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and Mapbox, and is displayed under their respective licences. If you connect Strava or another external account, that service’s own terms apply to it, and you can disconnect it at any time. We are not responsible for third-party services or their availability.
Paid plans
Some features require a BitesOf Pro subscription. Prices are shown before you buy, payment is taken by Stripe, and subscriptions renew automatically for the period you chose until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal and keeps your access until the end of the period already paid for. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU you have a statutory 14-day right to cancel a new subscription; beyond that, payments are non-refundable except where the law says otherwise or we have clearly failed to deliver.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep BitesOf running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Features may change, and some are released as experiments that may be withdrawn. If we make a material change to the service or to these terms, we will give you reasonable notice.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using BitesOf and delete your account at any time from your account settings, on the web or in the app. We may suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or if we are required to by law. On closure, your content is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
Liability
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss arising from your reliance on route, map, or weather information. Where we are liable, our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and €100.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Denmark, and the Danish courts have exclusive jurisdiction - except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.
